This paper contributes to the debate between its proponents and critics, making the case for an STS-informed understanding of the checklist that demonstrates the limitations of both the ‘checklist-as-panacea’ and ‘checklist-as-socially-determined’ positions.

Studies into the relation between subjective perceptions of individuals and objective economic conditions have usually resulted in ambiguous empirical findings. Whilst most studies perceive subjective welfare as being operationalized by indicators of happiness or life satisfaction, we narrow the approach to an economic domain of subjective well-being— perceptions of poverty.

The paper explores the link between employment and subjective well-being among mothers with small children. Using a pooled sample of the ESS 2004–2014 data from 30 European countries. Analyzing multiple measures of subjective well-being, the paper shows that homemakers are happier than full-time workers. There were no significant differences between homemakers and part-time workers.

Zkoumá postavení obyvatel venkovských periferií na trhu práce, jejich příjmy a možnosti zaměstnání. Zabývá se problematikou vzdělání a ptá se, jestli děti vyrůstající v periferiích mají stejné možnosti získání kvalitního vzdělání jako ostatní.

The aim of this article is to investigate the factors that influence the size of activity spaces of homeless men and women in cities. Vulnerable population groups such as the homeless face the risk of mobility challenges that can exacerbate their social exclusion even more through mobility-driven spatial exclusion. The extent of an individual’s activity space is a key precondition for the daily coping strategies and life opportunities of homeless people.

The purpose of this text is to attempt to test the connection between people’s religiosity and their relationship to history, and also to provide some new knowledge about this relationship in the Czech Republic.
