The article examines the results of 1991 and 1995 ISJP (International Social Justice Project) surveys conducted in the Czech Republic. The surveys showed that among citizens of post-communist countries Czechs stood closest to the West in their profile of beliefs and attitudes about economic justice.

This article maps out the shifts in votes to the Parliament and the developing stability of voting behaviour in relation to the developing system of political parties. It confirmed suppositions that the Czech political scene is in a process of development which will lead to a change in the party system. It is nevertheless clear that the political scene here is moving closer to that common in western democracies. Voting preferences in the Czech Republic are becoming more stable.

With regard to Church affiliation and church attendance, the Czech Republic belongs among the most secularised countries in Europe. However, there is a widely spread belief in the supernatural. The study based on the results of the 1999 representative survey on "Decade of the Czech Tranformation" states that in connection with the accomplished institutional and social changes in the political and economic system a hybrid social structure emerged in which three types of social differnetiation are intertwinning: the inherited egalitarianism, the emerging polar class relationships and meritocratic stratification.
