The article investigates the differences between marriage and non-marital cohabitation. The main perspective stems from the theory of the social exchange. The author concentrates on the narrow question of financial transfers between partners and presents the hypothesis that cohabitation should represent a lesser bond union because it does not protect investments into partnerships, and it should therefore be more egalitarian. However, this hypothesis is not confirmed by the data.

The report analyses a survey of religious attitudes of the Czechs. Analyses have disclosed two fundamental types of a religious orientation: Christianity and occultism. Christianity was typical for older people with lower education, occultism was spread in population more evenly. The relationship between occultism and pessimism and the denial of a higher personal authority was proven.

The author distinguishes between support for democracy as a form of government, and satisfaction with the development of democracy in a (particular) country, and searches for the factors which this depends on. As explanatory factors, the author first tests trust in institutions, then political culture and personal characteristics.
