The popularity and character of secular last rites in Czechoslovakia were admired by many other Communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe, at least in the 1950s and 1960s. Rural studies have shown considerable interest in the implications the eventization of agriculture has for both rural communities and the agri-food system in the Global North. To contribute to the debate on the transformative potential of agri-food events such as farm festivals and agritourism, in this paper I present ethnographic evidence from a visitors` day taking place at the site of an organic smallholder farm in rural Western Bohemia.

This article analyses the effects of minimum wage on employment in the Czech and Slovak Republics based on 2005–17 EU-SILC data. Our results contribute to the scant literature on minimum wage effects in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region. While prior empirical findings concurred with the effects of minimum wage on labour market outcomes in CEE countries when the minimum wage is relatively high, there is ambiguity when the minimum wage is relatively low.
