In the paper, we present first results of a sociological survey, which compared opinions on roles of men and women from the perspective of two generations of men and women.

Although The Beauty Myth must be seen as a groundbreaking compendium of information about the functioning of beauty market, the books in some respects stays on the surface. The author, for example, does not analyse any further her claim that women are victims of powers in face of which one is helpless. Neither does she deal with the issue of reproduction of sex-segregated world and its values or the mechanisms how women learn to view themselves through male eyes.
