Conditions

• Contract Type: fixed term
• Hours: 50% FTE (20 hours per week)
• Ideal start date: 1 March 2022 or upon agreement
• Place of job execution: Czech Republic or the EU; the project will run on CET time zone.

Background information

The successful candidate is to be employed by the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences – Centre for Gender and Science as an advocacy and outreach specialist on the project RESISTIRE (RESpondIng to outbreaks through co-creaTIve sustainable inclusive equality stRatEgies) funded under the call H2020-SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2 Advancing knowledge for the clinical and public health response to the 2019-nCoV epidemic.

The aim of RESISTIRE is to: 1) understand the impact of COVID-19 policy responses on behavioural, social and economic inequalities in the EU27, Serbia, Turkey and the UK on the basis of a conceptual gender+ framework, and 2) design, devise and pilot policy solutions and social innovations to be deployed by policymakers, stakeholders and actors in different policy domains. RESISTIRE will run in a three-cycle approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research with co-creation. The process will be repeated every 6 months, each cycle producing operational results and integrating insights from the previous one. Each cycle involves:

Extensive mapping of policy and societal responses to COVID-19, secondary survey data, workshops with civil society, interviews with public authorities, and individual narratives collected from precarious and vulnerable groups, and translated into operational insights.
Development of adequate responses and operational tools from a holistic perspective, with a co-design approach involving multiple stakeholders, with recommendations for actions for policymakers, stakeholders and actors in the field.
Launch of pilot actions to demonstrate the potential impact of a range of proposed solutions.
Dissemination of knowledge, development and delivery of policy recommendations and empowerment of stakeholders to exploit project results.

RESISTIRE relies on a strong multi-disciplinary consortium of ten European research, innovation, and design partners, with a well-established network of healthcare stakeholders. It is designed to achieve its results through multi-disciplinary research insights, cross-sectoral co-creation, solution development and a wide dissemination strategy.

Role summary

The Advocacy and Outreach Specialist will ensure high quality, timely and effective services to engage target audiences in respect to the outcomes of RESISTIRE as well as to facilitate policy recommendation development and diffusion within external networks. We invite applications from highly self-motivated and creative individuals with a strong interest in the public outreach and policy advocacy, with a good grasp of the policy landscape at the EU level.

During each of the three project cycles, the project designs specific recommendations for policy-makers, employers and civil society on how to ensure policies developed to limit health risks, minimize adverse effects and do not increase or create inequalities. The candidate will be responsible for the development of these recommendations (factsheets and guidelines) in task 6.1 “Operational recommendations” and their promotion to relevant target audiences in task 7.4 “Promotion of operational recommendations'', including the monitoring of windows of opportunity for the promotion of these recommendations, the identification of specific audiences, the design of a communication plan, and the dissemination of the recommendations.

Required skills and experience

• Education
• A minimum of Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Relations, Communication or Journalism or another Social Science degree.
• Skills

Minimum 3 years of professional experience of which minimum 1 year relevant to the advocacy and outreach areas as outlined in the role summary section
Proven track record of producing high quality public information, policy briefs, advocacy materials and communication products in various formats (enclose samples)
A solid record of managing partnerships with governments and international partners
Good track record of working with mass media, e.g. print and electronic as well as media agencies 

Excellent technical skills and knowledge of working with multimedia content and designing of advocacy, information and communication products maintaining corporate competency, innovations and creativity 

Experience in interdisciplinary teamwork and good interpersonal skills to communicate in the project team.
Outstanding writing and presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
