This study refers to the research into mutual perception of inhabitants of border regions of Bavaria and western Bohemia. The analysis of the impact of historical consciousness on the formulation of regional identity is based on empirical survey of biographical identities which was carried out within the regions of the Czech Republic and Bavaria closed to the border, during the summer 2004 (July-September).
