This chapter consists of the theoretical description of common approaches used by analysis of housing careers in studies of foreign researchers. The approaches based on the concepts of the life cycle, life course and housing consumption are explained. With the use of the data from the survey Housing Attitudes in the Czech Republic 2001 is presented basic knowledge about the housing careers of the Czech households in the period 1960 - 2001. This knowledge is also compared with the findings of selected research studies
