Cílem projektu je vytvoření vědecky založeného evropského systému
sociálních zpráv a měření životní úrovně. Projekt sestává ze tří
subprojektů pokrývajících specifické oblasti uvedeného souhrnného cíle.
Subprojekt 1. "Systém of sociálních indikátorů" – cílem je rozvoj
vědecky založeného evropského systému sociálních indikátorů.

2. "Skladování komparativních databází empirických výzkumů" – cílem je
rozvoj informační báze zahrnující kromě věcného obsahu také
komparabilitu a dostupnost výzkumných dat důležitých pro sociální
zprávy.
Subprojekt 3 "Přístup ke komparativním mikrodatům" - cílem je
koncipovat meta-informační systém na Internetu a rozvoje standardů pro
zprávy hodnotící datové zdroje. Výzkum se uskutečňuje s partnery
reprezentující 13 evropských zemí.

The article presents practical information on the sources of Czech social survey data for both researchers interested in data on Czech society and data professionals interested in the state of the art of data services. Czech survey research was deeply affected by the communist regime, but underwent intense development in 1960s and after the revolution in 1989. In the field of official statistics, data services are provided by the Czech Statistical Office.
Article concerns the benefits of social data services and secondary data analysis and the past and current situation in data archiving in the Czech Republic. The Sociological Data Archive (SDA) provides data files from quantitative surveys, promotes secondary data analysis and co-operates in research project (ISSP, ESS). Qualitative archives are the Czech Archive of Qualitative Data and Documents and MEDARD.
The description of post-communist societies is still insufficient and contrasts with the rich knowledge on Western societies. The focus is still on economic and, in particular, macroeconomic data, while social data and reports are rather scarce. With regard to socio-economic studies and analyses, the Czech Republic is even lagging behind the other transition countries of Central Eastern Europe.
In the contribution, we have compiled a comprehensive (but probably not exhaustive) overview of the main undertakings that are in some way oriented towards social reporting.
