Has Participation in Higher Education Widened after the Demise of Communism?

The primary aim of the paper is to compare the development of inequality in access to higher education during the communist and post-communist regimes by testing hypotheses about the effects of economic and cultural dimensions of socio-economic background and gender on the odds of making the transition between secondary and tertiary education.

Prvořadým cílem této studie je porovnání vývoje nerovnosti v přístupu k vyššímu vzdělání v komunistických a postkomunistických režimech na základě ověření hypotéz o vlivu ekonomických a kulturních aspektů socioekonomického prostředí a genderu na pravděpodobnost přechodu ze sekundárního na terciární vzdělání.
