Proč jsou detektivky tak populární, proč by nás to mělo zajímat a jaké jsou jejich důsledky z hlediska feminismu?

Tato prezentace je součástí příspěvku, který jsme napsali o přitažlivosti detektivek. Chceme se zde soustředit na evidenci – neformální i systematickou - o popularitě různých typů detektivek včetně novel, televize a filmu. Ukážeme také klipy z některých populárních televizních programů a filmů, kde jsou protagonistkami ženy. Dále představíme debaty ohledně pozitivních a negativních vlivů detektivek na jejich diváky, zejména na důsledky pro ženské publikum. Pak bychom chtěli s naším publikem diskutovat o jejich “konzumaci” detektivek, o důvodech, proč je mají nebo nemají rádi. V diskusi také navrhneme "expertní" generalizace důvodů, proč jsou detektivky tak populární. Na závěr nabídneme shrnutí nebezpečí a potenciálu popularity detektivek pro ženy.

Gray Cavender is a Professor of Justice & Social Inquiry in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University, USA. His research and teaching interests include media, punishment, law and society, and corporate crime. His media research considers how the mass media depict issues of crime and justice in both factual and fictional representations, e.g., newspaper coverage of actual events, and also television police programs and crime films. He is a co-author of Corporate Crime under Attack: The Fight to Criminalize Corporate Violence (Anderson, 1986). With Mark Fishman, he edited Entertaining Crime: Reality Television Programs (Aldine, 1998). Most recently, he and Nancy Jurik published Justice Provocateur: Jane Tennison and Policing in Prime Suspect (University of Illinois Press, 2012).

Nancy Jurik is a Professor of Justice and Social Inquiry in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University. Her research and teaching interests focus on gender, occupations, work organizations, entrepreneurship, and media constructions of gender and work. Her books include Doing Justice, Doing Gender: Women in Legal and Criminal Justice Occupations (Sage, 2007 and 1996), Bootstrap Dreams: U.S. Microenterprise Development In An Era of Welfare Reform (Cornell University Press, 2005), and with Gray Cavender, Provocateur for Justice: Jane Tennison and Policing in "Prime Suspect" (University of Illinois Press, 2012). She is a past president of the Society for the Study of Social Problems and a Distinguished Faculty in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at ASU.
